Which trip are you going on?
Last year this group went to Huntington Beach in mid July and hiked two miles carrying all the gear to find a great fishing experience at the jetties. This was a great trip, but the group voted this year to visit Edisto Beach and Huntington Island earlier in the year for our coastal destinations. We hope this change will help us to as many fish but with cooler temperatures.
ANNUAL HELEN, GA TRIP
Helen, GA has provided some incredible trips for this group over the past three years, but this past year we added in tubing. This was a great break during the middle of the day, and the guys all agreed this year that will certainly be a part. There were a few other stops along the way that were added in this year and we hope to make those an addition to our annual experiences. This year Unicoi Outfitters of Helen, GA has offered to teach the guys about fly fishing, and give them access to some of the best private trout streams in the south east. We all know this will be an incredible experience and not one they will soon forget.
FISHING FOR THE FUTURE
The future of SC fishing really starts with our young people. To this end SC FCA Outdoors is partnering with Lake World Bait and Tackle next to the Lake Murray Dam and the SC DNR Take 1 Make 1 program. Students ages 8-16 will be able to sign up and pay a small fee to learn about Brim, Bass, and Catfishing. Then they will have a chance to take home the SC FCA Outdoors “Pond Fishing Tackle Box”. This box will include everything they need to get started on pond fishing in SC.
BURRELLS FORD TROUT FISHING
The first trip this group ever took out of town was to Devils Fork state park. This year the lake was down and the
guys had to find fish. They drove around to a few spots they thought might hold trout, and sure enough one did. After two days of catch and release a group of 6 guys had pulled in and released nearly 125 trout. In the process they found a great new camping area, and this year have two trips planned for the new site.
